52nd European Conference on Optical Communication

6G-CATS paper entitled, “Optical Fi-Wi QKD Exchange with Monolithic QKD Transmitter”, was presented by Florian Honz, at the ECOC 2026 | 52nd European Conference on Optical Communication, Malaga, Spain, on 24th of September. He demonstrated a handheld-inspired use-case to generate secure key between a chip-scale monolithic silicon quantum key distribution transmitter and its corresponding receiver at an edge-cloud node. This key exchange has been facilitated over a transparent end-to-end connection involving an ATM-like pairing over a close-proximity optical-wireless link, and the seamless relay of the quantum signal over a 32-km long fiber backhaul of a 6G fiber network. The team has further demonstrated the compatibility with high operating temperatures up to 80°C and co-existence of the quantum channel with a radio-frequency based fiber-wireless data shower.
