Consortium

The 6G-CATS consortium brings together a broad and complementary range of European industrial, research, and academic partners, with approximately 2/3 of the consortium being 6G-IA members. In total, 6G-CATS comprises 15 partners from 7 different EU countries, combining the skills and expertise required to contribute to the development of advanced 6G systems and strengthen Europe’s position in this field.

The consortium represents key stakeholders across the 6G value chain. More specifically, it includes 8 technology providers, comprising 7 SMEs and 1 large enterprise, 3 Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs), 2 universities, 1 network operator, and 1 equipment vendor. This diverse composition brings together industrial know-how, technological innovation, and strong research and academic expertise, providing the complementary capabilities needed to address the project’s objectives.

CTTC — Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya CTTC is a non-profit R&D centre. Research expertise is primarily focused on technologies related to physical, data-link and network layers of communication systems, and geomatics. The PONS research unit within CTTC is involved in the project consortium with expertise in packet optical communications and networking technologies, edge and cloud computing infrastructure for virtual functions and applications, quantum communications, network and service management and spectrally & spatially multiplexed transmission systems enabled by advanced photonic technologies and adaptive transceivers. Driven by a cutting-edge R&D department with a portfolio of over 80 successfully executed EC and ESA-funded projects, Nextworks operates at the forefront of international technological innovation. Its unique know-how delivers end-to-end control, orchestration, and automation solutions that bridge the gap between advanced research and real-world deployments across diverse vertical sectors, including industry, transport, logistics, automotive, defense, energy, and environmental monitoring. Nextworks is an active participant in ETSI, contributing to the NFV, MEC, ENI, and ZSM ISGs and to the open-source Software Development Groups OSM, TeraFlowSDN, OpenCAPIF and OOP. Internet Institute (ININ / qMON) INTERNET INSTITUTE (ININ) is an innovation-driven SME from Ljubljana, Slovenia, focused on private 5G/6G networks, cloud-native edge and IoT. Its products include the qMON network testing and assurance platform and MobileONE, a deployable 5G/6G system for critical sectors such as PPDR and ports. In 6G-CATS, ININ contributes its cloud-native 5G/6G system and qMON Sensei, an agentic-AI framework that turns network performance and sustainability data into human-supervised, closed-loop optimisation.
