6G-CATS participation, via Hellenic Telekom, in the 2nd International Conference of the PanHellenic Optical Society (PHOS)

Dr. Ioannis Chochliouros (OTE/Hellenic Telekom) has joined the recent 2nd International Conference of the PanHellenic Optical Society (PHOS) (https://events.phos-society.gr/2nd-international-conference/) that has been hosted at the Research Dissemination Center of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece during the period October 01-03, 2026.

PHOS (https://phos-society.gr/) has been founded in 2025 and brings together researchers, students, and professionals working in the field of optics and photonics in Greece as well as researchers of Greek nationality working abroad. PHOS aims to strengthen the national photonics community by fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and scientific excellence, while promoting the visibility and impact of Greek photonics research internationally. It follows best practices adopted by leading international scientific organizations, like Optica, SPIE and the IEEE Photonics Society, and works to support the development of a vibrant and connected photonics community in Greece.

The 2nd PHOS international Conference has brought together experts from various sectors of the wider photonics market and included 10 separate sessions with more than 49 presentations and tutorials.

Dr. Chochliouros has presented a speech entitled as: “Enhancing network sensing capabilities via modern optical infrastructure: The cases of the “ECSTATIC” and the “6G-CATS” European projects”. The emphasis has been put around sensing capabilities of the involved fibre optical infrastructure in both these European projects.

In addition 2 posters, have also been presented in the poster session, demonstrating essential information for each one among the above EU-funded projects.

As of the 6G-CATS project additional information has been presented related to the main aims and objectives of the project within the scope of the SNS-JU 6G-oriented architecture as well as of the intended use cases and expected innovations
